God appoints each soul to be the sort of garden it is to be. Your
job is
strictly confined to making it (your soul) as good as it can be of its
sort.
Evelyn Underhill
The first step toward
change is awareness. The second step is acceptance.
Nathaniel Branden
Be gentle with yourself.
Sarah Ban Breathnach
The ENNEAGRAM is:
. . . parallel to Christianity’s seven
capital sins with the addition of deceit and fear.
. . . a way to identify nine different types of
people or nine major aspects of essential being; nine “chief features” of the emotional
life
(neurotic habits developed in childhood), sometimes called passions or
forces.
. . . a tool for conversion, for transformation
of consciousness; . . .not just a tool for interesting self-knowledge.
Richard Rohr
. . . an aid for self-knowledge and spiritual guidance
of others; . . .an excellent tool for helping people on their way to intellectual and
spiritual growth; . . . a mysterious model of the psyche; . . . a mirror
of the soul; . . . not THE answer, but one signpost. (Signposts
show the way, but, we have to take the way ourselves.)
Andreas Ebert
. . . an opportunity to question, examine and
even challenge many of your basic issues; . . . hard work, but a tool to help clarify goals, help
search for deeper spiritual life; . . . complex system of
knowledge . . . demanding that we look at human nature with new categories. Also
demanding
that we be honest with ourselves, looking at ourselves in new and
sometimes unflattering ways.
Theodorre Donson and Kathy Hurley
. . . an ancient mystical system designed to uncover
our character type and personality patterns . . . based on two metaphysical laws.
First, the law of three, . . . Second, the law of seven.
Helen Palmer
. . . a vehicle which is available for us to use
on our journey through life in terms of knowing ourselves. It helps us know ourselves, to
understand our motivation, to see how our basic view of reality is
different from others.
Loretta Brady
. . . a journey into self; . . . . a
self-enlightenment which leads to authentic personal freedom on a level never before experienced.
Maria Beesing, Robert J. Nogosek, Patrick O’Leary
. . . an ancient tradition with profound implications
for the understanding of ourselves and those with whom we live and work. . .
. a
marvelous personality paradigm.
June Canoles
. . . a method, and not the only method, the only
way, . . . a way of holding up to us the way we can live as disciples, facing the everyday
challenges of normal life as human beings.
William Maestri
. . . the most helpful tool I have ever
encountered to understand myself and others . . . a wonderful asset in the area of spiritual
direction.
Jody Seymour
. . . both a model and a process.
Bernard
Tickerhoof
. . . a system which increasingly opens up
reality to those who study it.
Suzanne Zuercher
