patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it's holy ground. There's no

Reverend Elizabeth
W. Libbey We are both ordained Episcopal priests. Bob took early retirement in October of 1999 after 30 years of parish ministry, the last 20 as Rector of St. Simon and St. Jude in Irmo, SC. Betsy retired on medical disability in June of 1999 after 15 years in parish ministry, the last 13 as Rector of St. Francis of Assisi, Chapin, SC. Betsy has Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome which has severely limited her time and energy, but we continue to hope that new treatments will eventually enable her to have a more active ministry with our workshops and retreats. During our time in parish ministry, our shared ministry and our passion was always in the area of spiritual growth and formation. We co-mentored Education for Ministry for the University of the South for ten years. As time allowed, we did weekend workshops and retreats. During the past 17 years, we have done extensive training in various areas of spirituality and spiritual formation. We have been teaching classes on prayer and mediation for almost two decades. We are both certified by Shalem Institute in Group Contemplative Leadership. Bob has also done advanced study and training in Centering Prayer with Contemplative Group Outreach. Bob also makes prayer beads using different materials, including antique jewelry. (For information on availability, see the Prayer section, or contact us by e-mail if you have some jewelry that you would like to see made into prayer beads.) We have a 32-foot canvas Labyrinth that we use with our own workshops and retreats. We can also bring our Labyrinth to your workshop or retreat. We always have available a number of wooden hand labyrinths for handicapped people or those whose health will not allow them to walk the Labyrinth. We have done study and training with several different personality theories and instruments. We are both trained and certified in administering the Myers-Briggs Typology Indicator (MBTI) and have used this tool with numerous groups as well as individuals. We have been studying and teaching the Enneagram since 1986. We are both certified Advanced Hurley-Donson Enneagram Teachers. We have also done training with several other Enneagram pioneers and authors. We were chosen to be among the workshop presenters at the past two International Enneagram Association Conferences. In 2001, Betsy co-authored Ennea-Journaling, Writing for Transformation (see information on availability under our Enneagram resource section). Both of us have found journaling to be an important tool in our own spiritual growth. Betsy is a certified Journal to the Self instructor through the Center for Journal Therapy in Denver, CO. Dreamwork has been important in our own spiritual journeys and we have recently begun to use it with individuals in spiritual direction and plan to offer dreamwork groups in the future. Betsy is in the process of completing a certification in dreamwork through the Haden Institute, Charlotte, NC. |
